How To Remove Background in Photoshop? Explained in 2 Easy Ways.

Do you ever imagine how your fluffy Husky might appear in its native winter environment? Or what your loving black cat may look like in a strange, hostile environment, such as an NFL stadium’s endzone?

While we didn’t need Photoshop to visualize the latter during football season, Photoshop is your go-to tool for turning what’s typically only imagined into reality, or at least as real as a picture.

Removing a background in Photoshop allows you to do some of the most creative things with it.

How to remove background in Photoshop:

1^st method:

A. On your Mac or PC, open the Photoshop application. Click “File,” then “Open…” from the top menu to bring up the image you want to remove the background from.

B. After that, you’ll need to use the Quick Selection Tool. By right-clicking the Object Selection Tool and selecting the third icon (a solid rectangle surrounded by a dotted line), you may access the icon, which is a solid rectangle enclosed by a dotted line, on the left side toolbar.

C. Piece by piece, click until you’ve encircled the image you wish to keep in the foreground, or the area of the image that will stay after the background is eliminated. In the upper “Options” menu bar, you can also tap “Select Subject.”

D. To correct any flaws around your subject, zoom in. In “Quick Mask” mode, you can accomplish the same thing.

E. Right-click your outlined topic and select “Layer Via Copy” when you’re comfortable with the image you wish to isolate from the background.

F. To make the backdrop disappear, tap the eyeball icon in the “Layers” panel adjacent to “Layer 0,” as it will be called by default, in the menu on the right side of your screen.

2^nd Method:

If you don’t need near-perfect margins on your subject, here’s an alternative method to remove the background.

A. Open your image.

B. Create a new layer in the “Layers” panel on the right side. Deselect “Layer 1,” and under “Layers,” select the “Background” layer, using your photo as the icon image.

C. With that layer selected, you will now see the option “Remove Background” under the “Quick Actions” panel. Click it.

D. You may need to tap the double arrows to “Expand Panels” in order to see “Quick Actions” if you’re on a smaller screen.
